CLINTON TOWNSHIP, OH (WCMH) — A Columbus man was killed Wednesday after investigators say he crashed his motorcycle while standing on the seat.

According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, 21-year-old Dewayne E. Stancil was traveling north on Cleveland Avenue south of Elmore Avenue on a white 2004 Suzuki GSXR 750 motorcycle around 1:50pm Wednesday.

Investigators said Stancil was standing on his seat while traveling at a high rate of speed. Stancil struck the back of a 1996 GMC Yukon driven by a 59-year-old Columbus man.

Stancil was taken to Grant Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Yukon was not injured.

According to investigators, Stancil was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
