As the deadline to register to vote in November’s midterm elections approaches, the number of registered voters is increasing in the state of Ohio.
Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted said voter registration rates are up 2% since November 2016. That number is expected to increase after a record number of paper registrations were collected on National Voter Registration Day last month.
Despite the increase in registered voters overall, the secretary of state’s office said registrations are slow for eligible voters under the age of 24.
The deadline to register to vote in this year’s election is Tuesday, Oct. 9. Early voting starts Wednesday, Oct. 10.
