Schools remain closed as authorities continue search for fugitive

Local News

An ongoing interstate manhunt for a man who has threatened to shoot President Trump continues to have school districts closed for a second day in a row.

FBI agents, US Marshals, and the U.S. Secret Service are searching for Shawn Christy after they said he made threats to President Trump and other law enforcement officers. U.S. Marshals have said, Christy threatened former Alaska governor Sarah Palin and was charged in federal court.
He also has warrants out of Pennsylvania.

Christy crashed his vehicle on Interstate 71 near Mansfield and fled on foot Monday night.

The Madison Local School District and Lucas Local Schools are closed.

“I’d rather my kids be home where I know they’re OK. I think it’s a good idea because nobody knows where he is and obviously he’s trying to survive,” said parent Lisa Grubbs said.

Mansfield City Schools students did have class, officials said. However resource officers were at each school and none of the elementary students had recess.
