COLUMBUS (WCMH) — ‘Save the Crew’ wants to see Crew Stadium relocated to the Arena District.
The crew released renderings of their proposed stadium Monday evening, along with a season ticket pledge of more than 10,000 people.
The proposed stadium would be placed at the west end of Nationwide Boulevard and seat more than 25,000 soccer fans. It would include a soccer museum and more.
“We put courts on the site so the site can be used 24/7 and spread the game of soccer as well as a restaurant and event venue that’s connected into the stadium so people can come out and see the stadium even when it’s not in use for a game,” said David Foust.
Foust says that between the Ohio Attorney General and the City of Columbus’ pending lawsuit to stop the Crew move, and the grassroots effort to keep the team in Columbus, he is confident the team will stay.
“Ultimately what happens in Columbus whether it’s the lawsuit or a local ownership group what happens in Columbus will determine the fate of this team and we firmly believe that they’re going to stay in Columbus,” said Foust.
