Save the Crew launches new campaign with focus on 2019

Local News

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — In an effort to keep the Columbus Crew SC from leaving town, members of the Save the Crew movement have launched a new campaign.

The movement’s leaders are encouraging fans to sign the Project 2019 Season Ticket Pledge to show they will support the club.

The pledge reads as follows:

“In the case that Columbus Crew SC is sold to a local investor/operator, I pledge to purchase season tickets or a multiple match plan for the 2019 Columbus Crew SC season.”

So far, the effort is said to be gaining traction.

“We launched the ticket pledge last week,” said Morgan Hughes, a Save the Crew leader. “Within the first 48 hours, we had well over 5,000 season tickets pledged.”

Last year, Precourt Sports Ventures CEO Anthony Precourt announced plans to explore the option of relocating the team to Austin, Texas.

NBC4 reached out to a team spokesman regarding the pledge; he declined to comment.

To date, no timetable has been made public regarding a decision on where the club will play in 2019.
