NEW LEXINGTON, Ohio (WCMH) — Dogs at a local shelter have found their forever homes just in time for the holidays. 35 dogs were adopted at the Perry County Dog Shelter after someone offered to pay all adoption fees.

Staff at the shelter say it’s the most quiet it’s been there in a while. Something dog warden Kerrie Taylor is enjoying.

“We have never been this low. We have 14 dogs right now. We never been under 30. Some of these dogs been here since the beginning of May.  They have homes now,” said Taylor.

Taylor said it’s thanks to a woman who opened her heart and her wallet.

“She said she would like to find the dogs a home for Christmas and she paid for all their adoption fees,” said Taylor.

Adoption fees normally cost 60 bucks. Now, it’s 16 dollars.

“People are just coming in and loving on them . Just taking them outside. Walking them. Play with toys. And then they’re taking them home. They’re bringing their dogs here to  meet them,” said Taylor.
