Portion of I-270 named after fallen Westerville officers

Local News

WESTERVILLE, OH (WCMH) — A portion of I-270 has been named in honor of fallen Westerville officers Anthony Morelli and Eric Joering.

The Ohio Department of Transportation installed signs between the Cleveland Avenue and State Street exits on I-270 designating that portion of the road the “Officers Anthony Morelli and Eric Joering Memorial Highway.”

The city plans to present their families with a  replica of the sign on November 13.

Joering and Morelli were fatally shot in February after entering a townhome while responding to a domestic dispute. They returned fire, wounding 30-year-old Quentin Smith.
