Police: Suspect in custody after shots fired outside Newark Walmart

NEWARK, Ohio (WCMH) — Police in Newark are responding to a report of shots fired outside a Walmart store.

According to Newark police, it happened outside the Walmart on North 21st Street.

No injuries were reported, and the suspect was arrested a short time after the incident, according to police. Police Chief Barry Connell said investigators are not releasing the suspect’s name at this point in time. 

“Detectives are currently investigating and will release more information once available,” said police spokesperson Clint Eskins.

“We appreciate law enforcement’s quick response and are glad no customers or employees were hurt,” a spokesperson for Walmart said.
