COLUMBUS (WCMH) — A man died recently nearly a year after being assaulted in a west Columbus alley.

According to the Columbus Division of Police, at about 3:13am, April 12, 2018, officers were called to the alley near 50 Wisconsin Avenue on the report of an injured man.

When officers arrived on scene, they found Cameron D. Thurman, 57, injured seemingly from an assault.
Thurman was taken to Mt. Carmel West Hospital were his injuries were diagnosed to be more serious than initially thought.

On February 23, 2019, Thurman died and the coroner ruled his death a direct result from the injuries he suffered in April.

Police have now initiated a homicide investigation and ask anyone with information on Thurman’s assault to call the CPD Homicide Unit at 614-645-4730 or Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-8477.
