Police searching for suspect in armed robbery at southwest Columbus carryout store

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — The Columbus Division of Police is investigating an armed robbery at southwest Columbus carryout store.

According to police, an unknown man entered Briggs Mart on the 2700 block of Briggs Road around 8:28pm Monday. The man allegedly handed the clerk a grocery bag and demanded he fill it with cash. The suspect then pulled out a large semi-automatic handgun and fired a shot next to the clerk.

The suspect told the clerk to move faster and fired several more rounds into the cigarette display. The clerk then handed the suspect the grocery bag with cash inside, and the suspect fired several more shots and left. Surveillance video showed the suspect fleeing towards Bronwyn Avenue.

The suspect is described as a black male, between 16 and 20 years old. He is approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall and has a thinner build, weighing anywhere between 130 and 150 pounds.  He was wearing a black hoodie, dark blue sweatpants, white gloves, a red mask and black tennis shoes at the time of the robbery.
