Police searching for ‘armed and dangerous’ suspect in South Linden fatal shooting

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Columbus police are investigating a deadly shooting in South Linden.

According to the Columbus Division of Police, at about 2:17am, Monday, officers were called to the area of E. 16th Avenue and Brooks avenue on the report of a shooting. 

Police say when the arrived on scene they found Dante Aaron Goodman, 25,  suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Goodman was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Police say Goodman was riding in a vehicle with Michael Javon Merchant, 26, when for an unknown reason, Merchant shot Goodman.

Merchant fled the scene after the shooting. 

Police have charged Merchant with murder and say he should be considered armed and dangerous. 

Anyone who sees Merchant should not approach him but call 911 immediately.
