Police make arrests in Longaberger Basket break-in

NEWARK, OH (WCMH) — Police in Newark have arrested three men suspected of breaking in to the former Longaberger Basket Co. headquarters on Main Street.

Newark Police say they received three calls in a 24-hour period about break-ins at the 7-story basket-shaped office building. They received the third call on Wednesday, Aug. 8 at 6:27am and discovered someone had entered the building. 

Officers arrested Eric R. Giffen, 35, of Newark; Christopher D. Caplinger, 33, of Columbus; and Eric E. McClain, 35, of Heath, according to a press release.

Police were also called to the building on Tuesday, Aug. 7 at 8:40am, and Tuesday, Aug. 7 at 11:40pm.
