Police identify victims in west Columbus double shooting

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Police have identified the two men shot in west Columbus, yesterday.

According to the Columbus Division of Police, at about 10:20am, Thursday, officers were called to the 2900 block of Sullivant Avenue on the report of a shooting. 

When officers arrived on scene they found Ricqus D. Marshall, 24, on the ground and DiJon J. Leeper, 25, in a stairwell of a nearby residence. Both victims were suffering from gunshot wounds and transported to Mount Carmel West Hospital. 

Marshall would later die from his injuries. 

Leeper is listed in critical but stable condition. 

Police say a man ran from the scene when the shooting started and he was later found in the 500 block of Binns Boulevard in possession of a gun. Police have not identified this man or listed him as a suspect.

Another man, described as a thin build black male, drove away from the scene in an SUV, carrying what appeared to be an assault rifle, according to police. This man should be considered armed and dangerous advises police. 

Police continue to investigate and say it’s not clear yet the role of the victims or the other males in the shooting.
