COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Columbus Police have identified the suspect shot and killed by officers on Thursday at a north Columbus hotel.
Police identified the suspect as Montae D. Shackleford, 28. Police say he was wanted on a felony warrant for abduction filed by Worthington Police, CPD said in a press release.
The officers involved in the shooting have been identified as:
- Sgt. David Gitlitz, a 5-year veteran assigned to the Patrol Bureau
- Ofc. Alexander Stallings, a 5-year veteran assigned to the Patrol Bureau
- Ofc. Matthew Carroll, a 5-year veteran assigned to the Patrol Bureau
- Ofc. Jeffrey Lincoln, a 4-year veteran assigned to the Patrol Bureau
- Ofc. Austin Endsley, who has worked for CPD for less than a year and is assigned to the Training Bureau.
Officer Carroll is recovering from a gunshot to the leg.
