Police identify man who died after possible altercation with robbery witnesses

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Police have identified a man who was found laying behind an east side hotel and died after a reported altercation with witnesses to an alleged robbery.

The Columbus Division of Police says 23-year-old Kelvin M. West died Sunday, May 20. 

Police say that according to their investigation, West robbed a woman at the Speedway at 1442 N. Cassady Ave. and began running away. 

Several witnesses to the robbery began chasing him, police say, and pursued him to the Four Points Hotel at 3030 Plaza Properties Blvd., where he was found. Police say the witnesses attempted to apprehend him, and a struggle ensued.
