Police identify man who died after motorcycle crash in north Columbus

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Police have identified a man who died when he crashed his motorcycle on I-71 Friday morning. 

At about 4:30am, Friday, emergency crews were called to the area of I-71NB to the Hudson Street ramp on the report of a motorcycle crash.

According to the Columbus Division of Police, 42-year-old James Taylor of Columbus was pronounced dead as a result of the crash. Police say Taylor lost control of his 2004 Yamaha motorcycle and struck the guardrail on the right side of the freeway.

I-71NB was closed for several hours between I-670 and Weber Road, while police investigated, but it has since reopened. 

This is the 44th traffic fatality in Columbus in 2018.
