Columbus Police have identified the man killed in a two-vehicle crash in east Columbus Friday night.

It happened just before 10:30pm at the intersection of Cole Street and Miller Avenue. According to Columbus Police, Alyssa Halcombe was driving a Toyota Camry west on Cole Street when she turned left at the intersection with Miller Avenue. As she turned, her vehicle was struck by an Accura RDX, driven by J. Stan Deberry, headed south on Miller Avenue.

Investigators say Deberry’s vehicle continued south and went off the left side of the road before striking several small trees and flipping onto its passenger side. Deberry was pronounced dead on the scene by medics with the Columbus Division of Fire.

Witnesses told police Deberry failed to stop at a red light when Halcombe had a green light.

This is the 45th traffic-related fatality in Columbus this year. The crash is still under investigation.
