Police: Gun deal leads to shooting that injured four people

Local News

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Four people were injured Monday after shots were fired along East Livingston Avenue, a few blocks east of Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

It happened around 2:18 p.m. along the 800 block of East Livingston Avenue.

Columbus Police say a juvenile along with some other people went to a home on East Livingston near Gilbert Street purportedly to sell a handgun. Instead of selling a gun, police say the juvenile started shooting at the buyer, identified as 19-year-old Tyell M. Reed.

An unknown person came to the defense of Reed and fired back at the suspects.

A total of four people were injured and treated at area hospitals. Police arrested a 17-year-old, who is now facing charges.

Police requested that Livingston Elementary School be placed on lockdown while they investigate the shooting. The lockdown was lifted around 3:20 p.m.
