BUCKEYE LAKE, OH (WCMH) – The Buckeye Lake police chief says all speeding tickets issued in the village since 2013 may have been illegally issued.

Buckeye Lake Police Chief Vicki Wardlow told the village council Monday that the police department failed to renew its FCC license and allowed it to expire in 2013.

Wardlow said an internal audit is underway on all open cases. She advises anyone with a speeding ticket who has not yet entered a plea to do so knowing that radar data is invalid.

According to the FCC, public safety agencies who have an existing radio license can use radar guns without applying for a separate license.

The village is now in the process of completing an FCC licensing application.
