Delaware police say they are uncertain if a woman who was hit and killed by a train was attempting to chase and outrun the train or attempting suicide, according to Delaware police.

Brooke D. VanCooney, 26, was found dead March 25 by Delaware police who were called to the railroad crossing at Pennsylvania Avenue and Troy Road at about 8:46 p.m. on the report of a person hit by a train.

Officials say they can confirm that she went beyond the guardrails that came down and onto the tracks, according to police.

The cause of death on her certificate is listed as undecided, according to Delaware police.
