Pike Co. Government Center evacuated after chemical spill

WAVERLY, OH (WCMH) — A chemical spill at the Pike County Government Center has caused the building to be evacuated.

According to a spokesperson with Pike County, earlier Wednesday, the Pike County Government Center in Waverly, was evacuated after a chemical, MECT5, was spilled in a storage room.

Officials say the building was evacuated and closed as a precaution.

MECT5 is an inhalation hazard, but the spill was contained to the storage room in the back of the building. 

Hazmat crews were called to the scene.
