LONDON, Ohio (WCMH) -A tragic ending to a mother and daughter’s life. Police say Yaisa Cordero, and her daughter, Joceline Cordero, were killed by Yaisa’s ex-boyfriend James Evans.  Dr. Jerry Poff knew Yaisa personally.

“There aren’t words to express it at this point,” said Poff.

He preaches at Faith Assembly Worship Center.  Yaisa was a member for years.

“She was a lovely lady. She had a real compassion for people. She was a real social person,” said Poff.

Pastor Poff said people loved her too.

“She’d help with the nursery. She’d sing some,” said Poff.

Police say Yaisa’s killer, James Evans, took his own life outside the very church she loved. It’s shocking to pastor Poff.  He says he met with Evans and his mother right after his sister died yesterday.

“It would be bad enough that the tragedy happened and her son is gone but that he took people with him, that a lot though,” said Poff.

In his decades of preaching, Poff says he hasn’t seen anything like this, but he has peace knowing Yaisa was a believer.

“If Yaisa could speak to you tonight, the first thing she would say is, find Jesus Christ as your lord and savior,” said Poff.
