KIRKERSVILLE, OH (WCMH) — The Kirkersville community will gather Saturday, one year after a shooting that left two women and the village’s police chief dead.

On May 12, 2017, officials say, 43-year-old Thomas Hartless gunned down Chief Steven Eric DiSario on a street near the Pine Kirk Care Center. Inside the nursing home, Hartless killed his girlfriend Marlina Medrano and her coworker Cindy Krantz.

DiSario, had headed the Kirkersville Police Department for only about three weeks, Licking County Sheriff Randy Thorp said.

A day of rememberance for DiSario will be held Saturday at 6pm.
