One woman killed, another critically injured in Madison Co. crash

MADISON CO., OH (WCMH) - One woman is dead and another is in critical condition after a two-vehicle crash in Madison County.

It happened around 10:20pm Friday on State Route 56 in Union Township. According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Tricia R. Dyer, 22, of Springfield, was driving a 1998 Ford Ranger north on SR 56 when a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Ryan J. Pitt, 20, of London, pulled out of a private driveway and turned left onto the southbound lanes of SR-56.

Dyer swerved left of center in an attempt to avoid hitting the Silverado, but still struck the pickup truck on the front right side. Dyer’s Ranger then went off the left side of the road after deflecting off the Silverado. The Ranger hit a ditch and flipped over, landing on its top.

The state patrol says Dyer was pronounced dead on the scene. Dyer’s passenger, identified as Susan Miller, 44, of London, was ejected from the vehicle and transported by medics to an area hospital in critical condition. Pitt was not injured in the accident.

Investigators say Dyer and Miller were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. Alcohol and drugs are not considered to be factors in the crash.
