Teen injured in accidental shooting

Local News

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Police say a teen who originally told officers he was injured in a drive-by shooting, actually accidentally shot himself.

According to the Columbus Division of Police, at about 7:36 a.m., Wednesday, officers were called to the 800 block of Greenfield drive on the report of a shooting.

When officers arrived on scene, they found a 13-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound to his foot.

The teen was taken to an area hospital in stable condition.

Police say the teen originally stated he had been shot as a result of a “drive-by,” but officers later discovered the victim had been concealing a handgun on his person when it accidentally discharged, striking him in the foot.
