COLUMBUS (WCMH) — A 43-year-old man is in stable condition after he was shot multiple times early Sunday morning near a downtown nightclub.

The shooting occurred at approximately 3:38 a.m. when an unknown black man approached Larry Stewart in the parking lot at XO Nightclub, 40 E. Long St. and confronted him about an earlier altercation and shot him three times.

The suspect fled westbound on Spring Street in a blue sedan, possibly a dark blue Toyota, according to a police report.

The club had been closed for more than an hour before the shooting.

Stewart was taken to Grant Medical Center and is expected to survive.
