One person dead after stabbing in Hilltop

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Columbus Police say one person has died after a stabbing in the Hilltop neighborhood in Columbus.

Police were called to the 700 block of Butler Ave around 9 p.m. Saturday night on report of a stabbing.

According to police, Sinnea Thomas, 28, was taken to Grant Medical Center in critical condition, but was pronounced dead at the hospital at approximately 10 p.m.

A suspect, a 15-year-old boy, has been charged with murder and tampering with evidence.

Police said shortly after Thomas was taken from the scene, the suspect approached officers guarding the scene and admitted to the stabbing.

Through their investigation, police said the suspect and Thomas had been arguing and fighting throughout the day. Before the stabbing, the suspect armed himself with a knife and stabbed Thomas when the two began fighting again, police said.

This is the 156 homicide in Columbus for 2020.
