One dead in Newark shooting, suspect charged with obstructing justice

One person has been charged in connection to a deadly shooting in Newark.

Newark police responded to the area of 88 Hancock Street around 11pm on Friday, May 11, on a report of multiple shots fired.

When police arrived, officials found Jesse Thomas Moffitt, 45, dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

After interviewing witnesses, officials arrested Billie J. Messer on a felony charge of obstructing justice relating to this incident. No 

Police said the investigation is still ongoing, and ask anyone with information on this shooting to contact the Newark Division of Police at 740-670-7200.
