COLUMBUS (WCMH) — One man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting at a hotel on the North Side.

According to the Columbus Division of Police, at about 9:53 p.m., officers were called to a hotel in the 1200 block of E. Dublin Granville Road. When police arrived on scene, they found Dion Skipper, 42, suffering from gunshot wounds.  

Skipper was pronounced dead at the scene.  

Police say Skipper and Bruce Cameron, 49, were arguing with each other, which led to a fight. 

During the fight, Cameron pulled a gun and shot Skipper, fatally wounding him, according to police. Cameron fled the scene, but Columbus police said Monday that he was arrested in Dayton.

Skipper’s death is the 51st reported homicide in Columbus for 2021.
