One dead after crash on I-71 in Fayette County

FAYETTE CO., OH (WCMH) — The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office confirms one person is dead after a crash on I-71 in Jefferson Township on Wednesday.

The sheriff’s office says the crash happened on I-71 near mile marker 67. 

According to Sheriff Vernon Stanforth, Harry Ector, 25, was driving south on I-71 near the rest area and collided with the back of another truck.

Ector’s truck was heavily damaged in the crash, trapping Ector inside. He was extricated by rescue crews and pronounced dead on the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.

I-71 was closed for some time but is now back open
