2 in stable condition after northeast Columbus shooting

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — One person was critically injured after a shooting on Morse Road.

The shooting occurred just before 4 p.m. on Wednesday near the intersection of Morse Road and Chesford Road.

Jontae Hudson, 24, was shot in the face while driving his vehicle west on Morse Road when an unknown suspect, who was also driving a vehicle, fired multiple gunshots at him, according to a police report.

After Hudson was shot, he continued to drive west on Morse Road where he eventually crashed his vehicle into a fire hydrant at Morse Road and Calderwood Drive.

Hudson was transported to OSU Main Hospital for treatment and is currently listed in stable condition.

Christi Smith, 64, was driving west on Morse Road and was near the intersection when the shooting started and she was struck in the left leg by one of the gunshots fired by the unknown suspect.

Smith was taken to Riverside Hospital for treatment and she is currently listed in stable condition.

According to Columbus police, Morse Road is shut down between Chesford Road and Cleveland Avenue due to the shooting investigation.
