One critical in South Linden shooting

COLUMBUS (WCMH) – One person was injured in a shooting in South Linden Sunday evening.

According to Columbus Police, the shooting took place on the 1000 block of East 15th Avenue at approximately 7:14 p.m.

The victim was taken to OSU Main Hospital in critical condition. 

UPDATE: According to a media release from Columbus Division of Police, on 09/12/2021 at approximately 7:13pm, Columbus Police Officers responded to the area of 1000 E. 15th Ave on the report of someone that had been shot.

When the Officers arrived they found Melech Hughes, 24, lying in his home suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg. First responding officers applied a tourniquet which likely saved his life.

Mr. Hughes was transported to an area hospital in critical condition. Mr. Hughes was later listed as stable when the detectives left the hospital.

The initial statement was Mr. Hughes was in his garage when a man came in and shot Mr. Hughes in the leg.
