COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Ohio State football is like a religion in this part of the Buckeye State. Everyone dresses up in scarlet and grey ready to watch the Buckeyes take the field in Ohio Stadium.
“Everyone here bleeds scarlet and grey and football is everything,” said student Joe Matts.
The “big man on campus” isn’t just the quarterback, but one of the most influential members of the Best Damn Band In The Land.
“I’m really looking forward to the band-bending in Ohio Stadium and going out there. That is the one moment where all eyes are on you 110,000 people looking at you,” said Ohio State Marching Band Drum Major, Konner Barr.
Konner Barr this season will be leading one of Ohio State’s most respected tradition.
“Seeing fans celebrate the dotting of the “I” is a really cool moment,” said Barr.
And now fans can dot their own Script Ohio “i” thanks to the student organization Stater’s Club — a tribute to the iconic marching band formation.
“It’s just a great brings a great vibe to campus. The excitement and enthusiasm. It’s a great community building aspect of the university,” said student Madalynn Conkle.
This Script Ohio statue is 8-foot-tall, 20-thousand pounds. Located on the south side of Ohio Stadium.
