Ohio State issues neighborhood safety notice after alleged armed robbery near campus

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Ohio State University Emergency Management is warning the campus area after a reported armed robbery Saturday morning.

Police say the victim, who is affiliated with Ohio State, reported to Columbus Police that he was walking in the area of E. 14th Ave. and N. Pearl St. at 5:25am. The victim reported being struck from behind by two unknown males and knocked to the ground.

The victim said he believed both suspects were armed with handguns.

The first suspect is described as a black male wearing a black hoodie and a bandana covering his face. The second suspect could not be identified. 

The two suspects fled south down N. Pearl St. with the victim’s bag and cell phone. 

The Columbus Division of Police is actively investigating and encourages anyone with information related to this crime to call CPD at 614-645-4266 or Crime Stoppers at 614-645-8477 (TIPS).
