COLUMBUS (WCMH) – Beginning July 2, Ohioans will be issued driver licenses and identification cards with a new look and new features.
According to the Bureau of Motor Vehicles, in addition to a new look, the licenses will have greater security features and identity protection.
When applying for the license, customers will be given the option of receiving a federal compliant license or a standard license. The compliant license fulfills requirements that take effect in 2020 for federal air travel.
Both Compliant and Standard cards allow you to prove your identity for tasks like buying alcohol, obtaining social services, or registering to vote.
The state previously announced it’s ending the practice of issuing licenses the same day. Instead, they will be mailed about 10 days after being issued.
