Ohio Dominican football player killed in Dayton shooting

DAYTON, OH (WCMH/WDTN) A football player for Ohio Dominican University was shot and killed in Dayton Sunday morning.  

According to a release, crews were dispatched to the area of Daleview Avenue and Wampler Avenue, just before 1am, Sunday, on the report of shots fired.

Investigators say Jonte S. Tinsley, 18, was struck when the shots were fired in the 4100 block of Daleview Avenue.

Tinsley was transported to an area hospital before deputies arrived. Tinsley was later pronounced dead.

According to a spokesperson with Ohio Dominican University, Tinsley was entering his sophomore year as a defensiveback with the Panthers.

The incident remains under investigation by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
