Officers identified in Ryan Avenue police-involved shooting

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — The two officers involved in the shooting of a suspect in a domestic situation have been identified. 

According to the Columbus Division of Police, at about 10:43pm, Tuesday, officers were called to the 500 block of Ryan Avenue on the report of a domestic situation. 

Police say when officers arrived on scene, the suspect, Virgil Wolford, 59, brandished a shotgun at them after he had stabbed his partner. 

Officers Jeffrey Kracht, an 8-year veteran, and Harry Dorsey, a 6-year veteran, fired at Wolford, striking him.

Wolford and the victim were taken to area hospitals with non life-threatening injuries. 


No officers were injured and the investigation continues.
