ODOT workers injured in crash on I-71 northbound on south side

Two Ohio Department of Transportation workers have been hospitalized after a crash early this morning. 

The Franklin County Sheriff’s office responded to a traffic accident on I-71 northbound at Harrisburg Pike at approximately 3:51am. 

All lanes of I-71 northbound were closed for several hours between State Route 665 and U.S. 62 due to a crash involving two ODOT vehicles.

An ODOT spokesperson says crews were clearing the scene of a work zone after making overnight pavement repairs at the time of the crash.

Two ODOT employees were in vehicles when they were struck by a third vehicle. 

Two ODOT employees were transported to local hospitals. According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the workers suffered non-life threatening injuries. 

I-71 has since reopened.
