The Ohio Department of Transportation shut down Interstate 270 in both directions Saturday morning due to poor road conditions that caused an increased number of accidents.
ODOT shut down the highway to treat the highway with salt to prevent more crashes, according to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
Visibility is also poor due to a dense fog advisory that is in effect until 1 p.m., according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.
Visibility is one-quarter mile or less at times, which will result in hazardous travel conditions. Some slick spots will also be possible.
Motorists should use extra caution.
Drivers are asked to slow down, use low-beam headlights, and leave plenty of distance ahead of them as objects on and near roadways will be seen only at close range due to low visibility.
