New treats, old favorites delight at first day of Ohio State Fair

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — There are things for people of all ages to do at the Ohio State Fair, which opened Wednesday at the Fairgrounds. 

Looking for something new? For the first time, The Marvelous Mutts for New York features a thrilling canine agility show. 

“All of the dogs in the show are reduced from shelters through reduce groups all over the country. These are dogs that needed a job to to they were high energy dogs,” said owner Nadja Palenzuela. 

Time to shower, shave and it’s showtime. It’s competition day over at the sheep barn. 

Ariana Spina from Hilliard spent the day getting her ewe lamb ready for the big show. 

“She’s a little bit green, she is a small baby girl so I hope she doesn’t get last,” said Spina. 

You can find your favorite deep fried Oreos and Buckeyes with 189 food vendors at the fair. 

Something new on the menu and a twist on a fair favorite, is the Philly cheese steak donut burger. 

“We use a regular donut burger and we put Philly steak, onions and peppers on it. It just kicks it up a little bit,” said Don Kenna, Owner of Donut Burger. 
Over at the pig, barn prepare to be amazed. Bob, the 1,180 pound pig, the largest hog in Ohio, made his debut. You can catch him munching on cake and Oreos.
