A Nelsonville man is facing charges after he refused to leave a property where he was was waiting on a man who sold him bad drugs, according to officials.

According to the Athens County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to the 4300 block of Perry Ridge Road in Nelsonville Thursday evening on a trespassing complaint. When deputies arrived, they spoke with the complainant, identified as Jacob Stump, 36, who was waiting outside the house with a baseball bat.

Stump told deputies he was waiting for another man to come out of the house because the other man sold him bad drugs that caused Stump to overdose on a separate day. Deputies requested that Stump leave the property several times, but Stump did not comply.

Stump was taken into custody for persistent disorderly conduct transported to the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail. He appeared in court on Friday and pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge. His next court date is set for May 24.
