Police said a property owner in Ross County located the body of the man they’ve been searching to find for more than a week.
53-year-old Jeffrey Delgado’s body was found on the same road where here committed the crimes.
Now neighbors say they no longer have to live in fear.
“I’d wake up if I hear a noise, I heard the dogs barking, I’d go look at all the windows and I go wake him up and say how were the dogs are barking,” said Debbie Kellough who lives across the street from where police said Delgado committed his crimes.
She said it’s how she and her husband, Howard, lived as Ross County sheriff’s deputies searched for Delgado.
On Sunday police said a property owner in the 500 block of Baker Road found Delgado’s body near a pond.
Police had obtained a search warrant for Delgado’s arrest for felonious assault, kidnapping, and rape.
“It’s a scary situation but this is something you got a face sometimes, but I don’t want to face it no more,” said Howard.
The couple said they went into a trailer on Baker Road a week ago, after they heard screams for help. They found two women who claimed Delgado had beaten them with a bat.
Debbie said she was in fear every day going to her car for work because she believed Delgado would strike again.
“It’s kind of dark with the porch light on you never know if you don’t get hit in the head,” said Debbie. “I would have my keys in my hand and I had a Taser, and I walk out I’ll be looking all the way until I get to my car. Then I lock my car and go.”
Howard said now this community can rest easy, and they’re glad this nightmare is over.
“Well it’s a pretty good relief and we can go to bed and sleep at night.”
Delgado’s body is with the Ross County Sheriff’s Office.
