COLUMBUS (WCMH) — We have launched the NBC 4 Today Summer of Giving for the second year with Besa, an organization that makes it easy to volunteer and connect in our community.
“Summer of giving is one of the best programs we’ve ever done at Besa. It’s been so much fun working with NBC4 crew and the viewers. We’ve had so many viewers come out and volunteer through Summer of Giving and then continue all year round” said Matthew Goldstein, Besa Founder.
Each month, the NBC4 Today team will highlight a local charity, BESA will organize a volunteer opportunity and together we will chip in to make Central Ohio a little better.
“It’s exciting to see how people find Besa through NBC4 and can easily connect to the community and make our world better,” said Goldstein.
This summer we are lunching the initiative by helping the Columbus Early Learning Centers prepare their community garden.
“It’s a team effort. Everything that we do as a non-profit it really takes the whole community to make something happen,” said Gina Ginn, Columbus Early Learning Centers Executive Director. “So having volunteers come and put their hands in the dirt and really help us keep our centers beautiful and keep them a thriving place of business and a thriving place for children where they’re excited to come is really important.”
This month’s volunteer opportunity will be on Saturday June 8th from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and no gardening experience is required. To sign up for our Summer Of Giving event, visit the BESA website Givebesa.org.
