Meals on Wheels workers and volunteers braved the cold in below freezing temperatures on Thursday.
Meals on Wheels workers, Stephen Easley and Don Poland, delivered Stepen Day his dinner.
“I am enjoying the job aspect just not the cold,” said Easley.
Poland says today’s workload is especially challenging.
“We struggle to get them delivered because some of the volunteers have a hard time making it out in this weather but we cover them anyway,” said Poland.
Poland says on days like these layers aren’t as important as being comfortable and moving quick, fast and in a hurry on his route.
“In and out of the car the heat is on full blast. Jumping in and out and moving and it’s less bundled up is a little more comfortable personally,” said Poland.
Regardless of how cold it is outside or how many volunteers actually show up, management says they will continue to deliver the exact same amount of meals every day.
