Max’s Mission: Shy, loving lab mix Max looking for forever family with another dog

Local News

Meet Max: He is a Brittany Spaniel-Beagle mix on a mission to find rescue dogs, like himself, a loving forever home.

NBC4 Today Weekend Anchor Hattie Hawks and her husband adopted Max from a small Central Ohio rescue called Pets Without Parents. Every week, Max and Hattie introduce viewers to other rescue dogs in search of forever homes.

This week, Hattie and Max dropped by a Stop the Suffering foster home to meet another Max, a 1-year-old lab-boxer-bulldog mix who is ready for his forever home.

This Max is actually a lot like Hattie’s Max: He is shy at first and does best when he’s around other dogs. Because of this, he will need a family that already has a dog.

“Once he gets to know someone, he seems fine with everyone,” Cara Toomey, Max’s foster mom, said. “Iknow he has been around kids and been fine with that. He would need a yard, even though he is more mellow for a younger boy. I think he does like to run around.”

Max also loves playing with toys and cuddling on the couch. He is housebroken and his foster mom is working on teaching him other commands like “sit” and “stay.”
