Meet Max: He is a Brittany Spaniel-Beagle mix on a mission to find rescue dogs, like himself, a loving forever home.
NBC4 Today Weekend Anchor Hattie Hawks and her husband adopted Max from a small Central Ohio rescue called Pets Without Parents. Every week, Max and Hattie introduce viewers to other rescue dogs in search of forever homes.
This week on their last Max’s Mission until January, Hattie and Max stopped by a RESCUEDOhio foster home to meet Scooby, a 3-year-old lab mix, and Gemma, a 4-year-old boxer mix.
You’d be hard pressed to find a better bonded pair than these two. They were both surrendered by their owner when their owner no longer had the appropriate amount of time to spend with them.
“Things were changing in their lives,” Melissa Liljefelt with RESCUDEDOhio said. “They seem like perfect dogs. They are super sweet and doing great with my daughter, who is 4.”
Both Scooby and Gemma have a moderate energy level. They’re two peas in a pod who love hanging out with one another. RESCUEDOhio is trying to make sure they are adopted together.
“They are used to each other. They have been with each other their whole lives,” Liljefelt said. “This is a lot of change to come into rescue and lose your family, so I think for them, staying together would be best.”
The two are move-in ready.
“They are both potty trained, are learning basic commands,” Liljefelt said. “They have always lived in a house so we don’t have many concerns in terms of them adjusting to a home setting quickly.”
When it comes down to it, these easy-going pups just need a yard where they can play and a house where they can sleep.
“I think they would do fantastic in any family who has some love to give and is interested in adopting,” Liljefelt said.
