Meet Max: He is a Brittany Spaniel-Beagle mix on a mission to find rescue dogs, like himself, a loving forever home.
NBC4 Today Weekend Anchor Hattie Hawks and her husband adopted Max from a small Central Ohio rescue called Pets Without Parents. Every week, Max and Hattie introduce viewers to other rescue dogs in search of forever homes.
This week on the one year anniversary of Max’s Mission, Hattie and Max stopped by Fuzzy Pawz Shih Tzu Rescue to meet Bailey and Sam.
Bailey is a sweet 7-year-old poodle mix. She was pulled from the Franklin County Dog Shelter. Bailey has had some surgery and dental work and now she’s ready for her forever home.
“She is the happiest dog and she loves to give kisses and she just loves her person,” Bailey’s foster mom said.
Bailey does need daily eye medication, but that shouldn’t be an issue.
“She takes it like a champ,” she said. “She does great.”
Bailey’s forever family should have prior experience with dogs, and she gets along well with other dogs.
“She does fine with other dogs,” she said. “She would probably do best in a quieter home though with dogs that don’t pick at her and get on her nerves.”
Next up is Sam, who also came from the Franklin County Dog Shelter. Sam was born without back feet, but he still manages to get around and is learning how to use a cart.
“He is still getting acclimated to it, but it’s amazing how well he walks on just his hands and he will do stairs and everything like that,” she said.
His foster mom says her favorite thing about Sam is his personality.
“He is five-star,” she said. “He loves everybody and gets along with other dogs. He does love to be with his people and loves to be held and cuddled.”
Sam needs a patient owner, but he doesn’t need someone to do everything for him.
“He doesn’t want you to carry him everywhere,” she said. “He likes to do this and he loves to run around the yard like other dogs.”
