Max’s Mission: 8-year-old Yorkie Yankee would make perfect family pet

Local News

Meet Max: He is a Brittany Spaniel-Beagle mix on a mission to find rescue dogs, like himself, a loving forever home.

NBC4 Today Weekend Anchor Hattie Hawks and her husband adopted Max from a small Central Ohio rescue called Pets Without Parents. Every week, Max and Hattie introduce viewers to other rescue dogs in search of forever homes.

This week, Hattie and Max met Yankee, an 8-year-old Yorkie with Columbus Dog Connection.

“[He is] A really sweet, super playful, happy-go-lucky, loves to give kisses kind of guy,” Said Kelli DiFrischia with Columbus Dog connection. “He’s got a good amount of spunk left in him. I don’t see him slowing down for many years.”

Yankee would do well with just about any family.

“He loves other dogs, he plays chase, he loves to just get into the mix in the house,” DiFrischia said. “He is just an easy guy.”

Yankee takes commands and is very well-behaved.

“You tell him to lay down or go to sleep and he goes from excited mode to laying down,” DiFrischia said.

Columbus Dog Connection works tirelessly to spread awareness about homeless dogs and how the community can help. The biggest issue they see is pets not getting spayed or neutered.

“Help us with the overpopulation problem and spay and neuter your dogs and cats,” DeFrischia said. “We have so many low-cost options in Columbus.”
