MAX’S MISSION: 6-month-old Chihuahua mix Chile looking for active family with dog experience

Local News

Meet Max: He is a Brittany Spaniel-Beagle mix on a mission to find rescue dogs, like himself, a loving forever home.

NBC4 Today Weekend Anchor Hattie Hawks and her husband adopted Max from a small Central Ohio rescue called Pets Without Parents. Every week, Max and Hattie introduce viewers to other rescue dogs in search of forever homes.

This week, Hattie and Max stopped by a Columbus Dog Connection foster home to meet Chili, a 6-month-old Chihuahua mix who had a bit of a rough start to life.

“She came from a situation where we pulled 11 dogs,” Kellie DiFrischia, director of Columbus Dog Connection, said. “It was an eviction, so it was sad.”

Now, all but two of those dogs, including Chili, have been adopted.

Chili is a sweet, playful puppy who loves humans.

“She is learning some fun commands,” DiFrischia said. “Her foster mom taught her a great command to come.”

Chile gets along great with other dogs and does well with cats. She would be best-suited to an active family that has plenty of experience with dogs.

“Chili would do great with someone who walks her. She does have moxie, so a lot of walking would be good because she has that puppy energy,” DiFrischia said. “It will help her spend it on something positive.”

Chili also loves to cuddle, so if you want a great lap dog, she may be the one for you.

“My favorite thing is how attentive she is,” DiFrischia said. “If you want to go hiking, she will be right there with you.”
