Meet Max: He is a Brittany Spaniel-Beagle mix on a mission to find rescue dogs, like himself, a loving forever home.
NBC4 Today Weekend Anchor Hattie Hawks and her husband adopted Max from a small Central Ohio rescue called Pets Without Parents.
Every week, Max and Hattie introduce viewers to other rescue dogs in search of forever homes.
This week they met Gwen from Stop the Suffering.
She is a 2-year-old Chihuahua mix. She is as sweet as can be with your typical Chihuahua tendencies.
“She does like other dogs and people, and she just gives kisses,” said foster mom Kristen Lee.
She also likes to throw a playful nip in there, too.
Gwen loves toys as long as our cameras aren’t rolling.
Typically, she is tied to one person, which right now is her foster mom … but she needs a forever home.
“Her ideal family would be someone who wants a lap dog, wants a dog that wants to bond with them and has a lot of attention and time to bond with them,” Lee said.
She would likely do best with an older household.
Gwen came to Stop the Suffering from a rural shelter in southern Ohio.
Right now, she walks a little funny because she has inverted patellas, which makes it difficult to move and at times difficult to get around.
She will have surgery to correct it soon.
“The recovery will probably take two to four weeks just doing some physical rehabilitation to help rebuild muscle mass she is going to be a little uncomfortable after the surgery itself.”
Gwen will have a full quality of life after surgery and should be more playful when she heals.
